We were excited to see a new column in the New York Times entitled, "The Green Home". The article talked about the ingredients in detergents and spoke with the head of the EPA's Design for the Environment (DfeE) program to get the scoop. The DfE recognizes detergents with safer chemistry. At present time, all of the Dropps products have been approved by the DfE program. Woohoo!

Before leaving Portsmouth, Robert and I took in some of the local sights and more importantly, the food. We started off the day with some burgers and hot dogs from Gilley's - a local favorite that has been in operation for almost 100 years. To thank them for their delicious food,we had to share a few Dropps samples with our new friends. Our bellies full of junk food, we crossed the Maine border.
We wound our way along the coast and stopped to hand out samples and talk about Dropps along the way to our northernmost destination - Bangor, Maine. As we traveled north the accents got heavier and the people got friendlier but, the weather was nipping at our heels. By the time we arrived in Bangor, we were snowed in. The next morning we tried to hand out some samples, but everyone had other things on their mind. The worsening weather put a wrench in our plans, so we found somewhere to wait out the snow. By mid-afternoon the roads had cleared up enough for us to make our escape.
In spite of the snow's best attempts, ee enjoyed our day and half venture in Maine and were happy to share Dropps with the friendly citizens of "The Pine Tree State". Fortunately, Robert and I survived the blizzards of Bangor and are now safely warm in our hotel room and headed in the right direction - south.

After a two day, whirlwind tour of Connecticut and Massachusetts, Robert and I find ourselves slowly shivering our way northward. Over the past few days, we've distributed hundreds of Droppssamples throughout southern New England. At every store we stop, we have found many people excited about trying Dropps. In Wareham, Massachusetts we even convinced two ladies to put back their traditional detergent and think outside the jug. In fact, both of them went home with their very own 26-load bag of Dropps in Fresh Scent.
But our continued marketing success is not completely our own. During our stay at Arn's Park Motel in Attelboro, Massachusetts, we received some welcomed marketing advice from the inn keeper, Steve. He not only thought Dropps was a great product but, took a few samples to try it out himself.
We spent the following day winding our way toward Boston and had just enough time to see a bit of history. Robert, myself and some Scent + Dye Free Dropps took a walking tour of downtown Boston. We visited the famous revolutionary site, the Old State House, and took a quick walk around the wharfs. Retreating from the cold, we made it back to our car just in time for the evening's dose of rush hour traffic.
Finally, we ended our day in Portsmouth, NH. Here we are pausing for a chance to rest and take in some local cuisine, before heading to our northern most point - Bangor, ME!

Robert and I left New Jersey in our dust yesterday morning and circled around NYC to spend some time on Long Island. We drove the length of the island and stopped at several stores along the way. Though getting strangers to warm up to us wasn't easy, especially in the worsening weather, those who did stop to talk to us were intrigued and happy to accept samples and coupons. We traveled as far east as Riverhead, NY, near the tip of Long Island. Following that, we turned around and headed back to Brooklyn and NYC. It was here that we met continued success, protected from the elements and inside an indoor shopping center.
With daylight dwindling and people increasingly unreceptive to being approached by strangers, we grabbed some Dropps and went for a brief visit to the Museum of Natural History and the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Though we barely had enough time to see the dinosaurs, before the museum closed, we did find some time to pass out samples to a few friendly museum employees. Later that night we even took some Dropps along for a stroll around Times Square.
The next morning we stopped at some stores north of New York City before heading back across the Hudson and taking advantage of a nice Dropps photo opportunity along the way. We were ready to tell Connecticut about Dropps but the weather had something else in mind. Ice and rain prevented us from having too much success outdoors. But like the Postal Service, we traveled on. Our most promising experience of the morning was inside a mall where the rain was unable to dampen our spirits. This morning we are finishing up our Connecticut travels and already the weather is looking up. Then its on to Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Northward. Hopefully we can outrun the weather. Seeya in Boston!

On Monday, January 5th, myself (Cody) and Robert came stumbling down from the mountains of Western North Carolina to embark on a two week long, east coast road trip, to inform people about Dropps at neighborhood stores. We spent the morning in Center City Philadelphia, reviewing the details of our trip and further acquainting ourselves with the product.
By the afternoon my car was bursting at the seams with free samples and rebate coupons and we trucked our way to Sicklerville, New Jersey – the first stop. Though the boulevards, shopping malls, and interchanges of suburban New Jersey almost threw us for a loop, we were emboldened by the guiding light of big box stores. It wasn't hard to find the distinctive Dropps packaging in the sea of orange, green and blue detergent bottles and in no time we had found the product on the shelf.
It took a few minutes for us to muster enough courage to approach strangers, especially ones that seemed so focused on getting in and out. But in spite of many shoppers' apprehensions and with the help of Robert's southern accent, we had emptied our bag of samples and sent many folks on their way home with a handful of Dropps capsules and a rebate coupon or two.
By our second stop we had hit our stride and fielded a good number of curious questions – many from genuinely interested women, who were our most intrigued demographic. We even made a well intentioned stop at our first Laundromat. Though we talked with the two sole patrons inside, we were not received with the open arms we had hoped. Let us only hope that the next groups of Laundromat customers are a bit more excited to see us. Tomorrow it's onto North Jersey, New York City and all points north!

Yesterday we sent out two very enthusiasticguys to blanket the East Coast with Dropps. Their mission is to spread the easy clean and get people thinking outside the jug! Their journey will take them as far north as New Hampshire and as far south as North Carolina. Check back for stories, highlights and pictures from their adventure.

As the New Year approaches we have begun to kick around some New Years resolutions. There are the usual ones such as working out more, eating healthier, taking up new hobbies and giving back to our community. In talking some more, we decided that we also wanted to consider what our "green" resolutions might be. This took some thinking. Most of us already use CFL light bulbs, unplug appliances when not in use and wash our clothes in cold water (as well as with Dropps). What else could we do?
One Dropps gal is moving in January and her thoughts turned to what new habits she could start in her new apartment. Recycling is a big one as her previous apartment did not offer that service. She plans to recycle bottles, cans and paper. Another resolution is to get a collapsible clothesline to cut down on energy use when drying clothes. She found some great clothes line options on www.breezedryer.com. One more resolution for her is to cut down on her overall trash consumption by figuring out ways to use less. That may mean buying more fresh foods from the farmers markets and less packaged foods. It also means bringing my own reusable bags to the grocery store. Hopefully, once she moves in, she can think about some other ways to conserve at home.
Over the next few days we will be thinking about New Years resolutions related to our mind, body and soul. Try to remember to plug something green into those resolutions, too.
