Calculate your own carbon footprint

There is a lot of talk about carbon footprints. Your personal carbon footprint is the amount of carbon dioxide emitted from your daily routine. Emissions may come from driving your car, flying on an airplane, electric appliances in your home, leaving the lights on and the list continues. We found this nifty and easy to use tool to help you calculate your personal carbon footprint. You may need to get a hold of your last energy bill to accurately assess how much carbon dioxide your are emitting from your electricity use at home.

Happy calculating! A cool way to track your emissions is to do an initial calculation and write it down. Then figure out ways to reduce emissions in your daily routine. One or two months later, use this tool again and see if your work has paid off. We hope it does!!!

Project Laundry List's New Online Store

Our friends over at Project Laundry List recently launched a new online store dedicated to making laundry washing and drying a more sustainable practice. A major focus of Project Laundry List is to reduce people's overall energy usage by encouraging people to hang their clothes to dry. On the website you will find a wealth of resources for such practices including fantastic indoor and outdoor clotheslines and drying racks, great clothespin bags (you know we have an obsession with clothespins) and of course dropps! Unscrew America ranks up their with gcycle.org as a totally quarky, but totally helpful site. It is all about getting America to change its light bulbs to CFLs. It offers tips on which light bulbs to buy, what you save when you make the switch and other fabulous random facts. Check it out at www.unscrewamerica.org. Here is a glimpse:

We recently stumbled upon www.evo.com, which is a fantastic resource for all things green - products, services, information, ect. They just added dropps this week to their comprehensive list of products, which we are totally psyched about. Evo.com rates products on a scale of 1 to 5 green leaves (5 being as green as you can get). Great site that's definitely worth checking out.

gcycle.org - recycle your old gadgets

We are on a cleaning kick now that it is officially Spring. www.gcycle.org is a great site we recently stumbled upon. It lets you enter in your zip code, select a gadget (cell phones, batteries, computers, TV's, ect) and find nearby locations that will accept and recycle the gadgets for you. An incredibly convenient and quarky site that gives a second life to your gadgets instead of sending them straight to a landfill.
